Janik spends his free time traveling, enjoying the outdoors, fishing, and playing games. Janik continues to support students’ lives by encouraging them to make healthy and responsible choices, so they may lead better lives and become productive members of our community. Currently, as the Wellness Department Head, Wellness Instructor and dorm parent, Mr. Janik has been part of Lincoln Academy since 2006. Janik returned to Maine and added two more years of teaching back at MSAD#40. Trying to expand his horizons and expertise in teaching the secondary grade levels, he then decided to move on and ended up the following three years teaching Wellness at Lincoln/Sudbury Regional High School in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

After attending and graduating from high school, Mr. Janik’s family started a new life in Connecticut. Leaving everything and his older brother behind, Mr. Janik’s parents escaped the Communist regime along with him and his younger brother.

About two years before the Velvet Revolution in 1989, Mr. Janik was born and raised in the Czech Republic (formerly) Czechoslovakia. She enjoys reading, hiking and enjoying time with her family. Matta can be heard playing as a freelance saxophonist. Matta has worked with bands and jazz bands throughout New England as a clinician and guest conductor. With MMO, Liz has trained and lead groups of high school student volunteers to work and play at the Holy Trinity Music School’s Summer Music Camp in Cange and the CEMUCHCA Summer Music Camp in Cap-Haïtien since 2012. Matta is the Program Director of “Maine Music Outreach” a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower Maine high school musicians to make a difference in the lives of others. Matta directs the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, String Ensemble, Jazz Big Band, the Four and Five O’clock jazz combos and teaches Advanced Placement Music Theory. Lincoln Academy bands regularly receive gold ratings at state and national competitions, and her student musicians place at regional and state competitions every year. Under her direction, the Lincoln Academy Band Program doubled in student participation and in the number of instrumental performing ensembles offered in just her first four years. Matta has been the Lincoln Academy Band Director since 2006. She credits her many great musical experiences in Foxborough, including performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and being challenged to think like a band director from an early age by Steve Massey and Ted Hagarty, as the reasons she has such a passion to work with kids, teach music and continue to perform. Liz Matta is a native of Foxborough, Massachusetts.
